Server pc and network with 8 pc's?

i need to decide on a few things.after i explain, please share your instructions on how to and what would be the best approach.thank you.

i have 8 pc's in an office with one server pc running win 2000.
i was asked to installed winxp on all of the pc's.

can winxp run as a server or should i install win 2003 sbs?
should i leave win 2000 on the server pc and just install winxp on the rest of the pc's to satisfy the boss?

if and when i decide to go with any os, how do i setup,step by step, the profiles on the server and have them point to the user acounts created on each pc in the office?

will different os's communicate ok?

It depends on what you want to get out of your network

WinSBS has built in
- Centralised User Managemens thus centralised security (especially around file and print)
- Proxy Services
- Email etc

- You can then run repors on the system etc so it can streamline your work and free you up to do other thing

Windows XP is the best microsoft client PC so far (I would not install Vista if you can help it but thats a personal view)
