Intense attraction, appropriate way to break the ice and ask out an older man?

okay, i am really attracted to a postal worker at the local post office- I go there 4 times a week for my home based business- and we share a few jokes back and forth. He seems like a very quiet reserved person, and i am quite shy as well. he is also older than i am- i am 26, he is in his late 40's but looks quite young. he looks to be quite artsy, and since i teach classical guitar lessons- i was going to ask him if he would like a complimentary lesson, if he doesn't already play that is. This part is for the over 40 males out there- would you be put off by a younger woman casually asking you out? is it tacky to offer something like lessons? i don't do the club scene, and i am a homeowner- have a steady job, and most of my friends are over 40, so i don't feel i would be too immature for him- what do you think? it seems like we have similar interests and personality- i am just feeling like a chicken- any ideas on how to go about this without seeming over the top?

i know he isnt married, and also he is at work, so asking me out might be a no no for him- and it's a post office so there are always some other people around- and he's shy

I'm over 40 so why not leave him your business card and offer the free lesson. Atleast he'll have your name, phone number and address and maybe even an email ought to be written on the back of the card. good luck hope you are successful in getting him over for a lesson.

Maybe he's married, involved or gay. If he was interested in dating you, he would ask you on a date. Since he hasn't made any move after all this time, it's safe to assume he's not interested in dating you. Offering him a free guitar lesson sounds presumptuous, as though you're trolling for new clients.

Just ask him. I would be very flattered if a younger woman asked me out. I am 31 by the way.

Nix on the guitar lesson for the reason that the first responder gave. That is the only thing she said that I agree with, btw.
How about when he asks to help you, give your standard order and then say, "Oh, and I'd like your number so I can invite you out sometime, if you are single and available." Honesty is so refreshing. Mature people like that.

Girl, just ask him out! Don't be shy, my husband is fifteen years older than me, and I made the first move, that was nearly three years ago. I am 30 now and he's 45, age is but a number. So have fun, be brave, take a risk. Just talk to him and invite him for lunch, coffee, anything. Don't be shy!
