How do I restrict PC clients/users in an office network from having access to certain files? I'm using WinXP?

I have a database file that is stored in one client/pc. It seems that when I set the file/directory as a shared folder it allows everyone to have access to it. Please help.

If you need to keep sharing the file, then right click the folder (or the file) and go into sharing and security and then click the security tab. There you can decide who will have access to this file.

If you don't see the security tab then click on tools -- folder options--view tab--scroll to the bottom and uncheck simple file sharing. Now follow the above directions again and the security tab should show up.

move THAT file to a different directory and dont share it.

make a new folder in the shared folder and set up a password for that.
