What have you said/done in the past that hurt another person which you regret?

Im sure everyone has more then one but I will share mine.

I was 11 or 12 and my mother worked a desk job at a counceling therapy office. A patient came in who did photography as a hobby and gave my mother a framed print of his.

Littlle bratty me said out loud something along the lines "whats that? That pictures stupid" And the guy was standing right there!

I did not realize how rude I had been. 13 years later, my mother still has the picture on her wall. It is a reminder for me of how rude I was that day and how important it is that we think before speaking. The photograph is beautiful, I was just a brat.

nothing
--meaning I've regretted saying nothing to some people when I could have comforted them and been a good friend to them.

When I was in grade school (back in the 50s) some friends made up a song about a classmate and being stupid I sang along. A few years later I found out that it was a raciest song about her being Jewish. By that time I had moved to a different state and didn't know where she was. That has always bothered me, and I have often used the story to get a point accross to my children & grands. Barbara Shipiro from Toledo, if you are out there,,I'm sorrier than I can ever say.

I think we all say and do lots of things that we regret. There's a lot of things that I should have said or done that I didn't. Either way, I'm sure your mom has forgiven you and I'm sure she apologized to the gentleman on your behalf so, I'm sure he's not holding it against you. Just know that, especially the words that you say, can be damaging. Not only to the other person, but to your character. The saying should be "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will always hurt me." People who say otherwise are just lying to themselves. Just be careful what you say around and to others. That way you don't have to feel guilty about saying the wrong thing. This shows that you are growing up and realizing that the world doesn't revolve around you. Forgive yourself and move on, okay.

Called a girl premisquous.Although I was joking at the moment, she apparently was offended or hurt by it.
