an oboe solo in a piece by Shostakovich or Prokovief remind one of Poirot and an old-fashioned office with an open window letting in a cool breeze with the view of an old garden?

i was referring to Prokovief Piano concerto no. 3. it has a couple oboe solos in it.

I'll duck the oboe solo for a moment, but where on earth did "an old-fashioned office with an open window letting in a cool breeze with the view of an old garden" come from? It's extraordinarily evocative. The Prokofieff works I'm engaged with at the moment wouldn't fit, but your imagery is lovely. Ah.. then there was Poirot... Hmmm... Butter fingers.. Pierrot? On the other hand... :-)

love the imagery .... and a bit surreal also in the middle of Shostakovitch especially ... could you specify a piece or 2 would love to see this myself (too busy to explore my collection got kids working on Schubert Am string Quartet and Xmas string quartet, myself in the midst of perfecting Mendelssohn's Eb quartet and the chamber version of the Nutcracker only 2 cellos)
