Turf Wars!?

I'm working in an office as one of two admin assistants. The other one has seniority, and is having trouble letting go and sharing responsibility. If I ask for her help or advice on a problem, she just takes over and does the task herself!

This means that I don't have a whole lot to work on, and I feel like I can't ask questions or get guidance. I don't know how I'm supposed ot learn the ropes if I don't even get to try. I also feel undermined and demoralized. I respect that she's good at her job, but we're supposed to be a team.

What should I do?

This is pretty common in an office setting. The other admin assistant probably feels threatened by your presence, and possibly your skills as well. I would recommend that you start by asking her for some of her routine tasks so that she can work on the more important projects. This will help you get along better and probably play to her ego a bit. I know you don't want to be subordinate to her, but it is probably a good place to start.
