Making friends?

Being a lady from big-city town in Asia, recently got married and migrated to a small town in the US, plus married to a content man who has no passion of looking for new friends and maintain only 2-3 friends.
I'm having a hard time surviving and calling my new home as a home.
I am a full time career woman. I want to hang-out after office. I'm not a bar goer, but would appreciate bar 3 times a year.
Long to have new friends sharing similar interests (career woman, music, sing, charity, event planner) with similar age is preference.

Please help me, what should I do to have more friends.
I don't know what to start and where to start.

Aren't there any nice people at your office? If you spend a lot of time together it should be easier to find new friends. just ask one of your colleagues to hang out.
If you like music and charity events, then why not just sign up to volunteer and help out? There just might be people like you who want to hang out. And about your husband-make friends with his friends, it#s a start.
