Information on linksys wireless routers WRT54G and WRT350N?

Please could someone clarify my confusion on what router to procure for my home/office network. Should i go for the Linksys WRT54G or WRT350N. Will i be taking the risk of wasting my money and resources if i buy WRT350N router since the wireless standard 'n' is still a draft. Lastly if i buy the WRT350N router and i have 5 computers that have the PCI wireless N card installed and a 3 laptops which have the integrated wireless b/g standards, will both of them with their different wireless standards be able to connect through the WRT350N router simultaenously and share files and resources simultaenously or will i have to turn off one standard i.e 'n' to accomodate the other i.e 'b/g'. I know that wireless b/g are compatible to an extent with each other but not with 'n' and vice versa. Please advise me soon. Thanks.

Even the latest "draft N" routers can have problems communicating with both b/g and n clients at the same time. Unless you are going to be using all "N" equipment (and hopefully from the same company), stick with "g" for now. In 1-2 years, "N" equipment should be both more robust and cheaper.
However, DO make sure all your equipment supports WPA (or better, WPA2) encryption; WEP encryption is just not secure.

although the Linksys n router you mention has been the leader for a long time and provide. The D-link Extreme router is shown to have greater range and throughput and is easier to set up. The n routers are all backward compatible and will work with all you computers at once. I you are going to use that many computers at one time, I would go to the D-Link the extreme especially if you have a large house.

Had you have only one computer, I even if you had an N card in it, I would have asked you what your connect speed way over your DSL or Cable. If you had anything less than 10Mb/s, I would have advised you to go with the G.

If are running a lot of computers at the same time, you will need something that is stronger with the through put of an N.

Also don't worry about draft. All N router work with each others cards. Linksys always will have better service and will completely stand behind their product
