Mac or IBM laptop?

I need a laptop for writing original material and the usual personal office stuff available on Windows (Word, Excel, etc.). In addition, am desiring to do a small recording studio for spoken word podcasts and audio files. I've converted twice between Macs and IBMs and NEED a laptop. Mac now has the Intel duo chip and can run like a pc so I can share files with my pc friends. But I hesitate. Should I decide on my software first? Should I wait until the Mac intel chip has more of a reputation? Help! Should I buy a mac or an ibm and WHY?

MAC it's not prone to crashes as often as PCs. Also, later on if you decide to do some heavy graphics work or editing, MAC is best for that kind of stuff.

Mac OSX+ is both Mac and PC itgs a new OS, buy that one and you wont have to decide..HOWEVER you WILL be open too attacks just like any PC.

If you have the money for JUST A MAC then go MAC.

Basically it's been like this;

Graphics etc. > MAC
Office crap > PC

If money is a probem I will tell yu this; I just bought the Dell XPS series Media center and it ROCKS

MACS are overpriced toys. OS X is annoying. All the BS about being "superior" hardware/software is total bunk. They suck.

You should get a Mac. Microsoft released Office 2004 on Mac before they released it on PC. I use Office on my MacBook Pro 2.0 GHz running Rosetta. It works fine. I do video work, and audio work. I really like working with audio on Mac better than PC. Macs are built to work on the OS, so they are more reliable. Most software is more intuitive on the Mac, so you enjoy working with it more. Also the interface is more visual; I get so tired when I'm on a PC because there is so much reading to do. On a Mac, you see an icon and click it, instead of seaching through a long list of stuff. Get your work done faster that way.

Definatley get the mac. Any real computer user knows that OSX is the best and cleanest operating system. The design is beautiful and you'll look much cooler carrying a mac than a dell. Office wont be a problem because Mac has all the office software that a pc does, plus garage band, imovie, and i dvd to get your spoken word out there not only on pod casts, but you can make photocasts and dvds with spoken word an moving images in imovie. Once you go mac, you'll never go back.
