What do I do about my complaining neighbor???

I just moved into a half-duplex and the woman I share it with is ridiculous. She is anti-canine and I have a dog. Dogs bark, we know this. I've been there two days and she is already complaining about the barking. And she is being a little dishonest about it too. I.E. left a message at 3 a.m. stating the dog was barking and she couldn't sleep. There was no way he was at that time because we were both sleeping. I have someone on my side in the leasing office, so that is a plus, and if the neighbor says anything to me I am to tell her, as she told my neighbor not to do so. I don't want a bad neighbor situation. What do I do? I can't control my dog when I am not at home, and she even told them he doesn't bark when I am at home...

Just tell her to mind her business. She lives there knowing you are allowed to have pets, so whatever!!!! I know of people like her and the complaining will never ever stop! Good Luck!

Simply ignore your nagging neighbor

Make a complaint against her for calling your house and waking you up at 3am. That should shut her up.

What is a half duplex? Being a real estate investor I can tell you there is no such thing... duplex means 2, so a half duplex is ONE HOUSE!

There are collars made that help reduce barking. I have heard of a citronella collar that helps reduce barking but unsure of the costs. You can get them at any Petsmart or Petco.

If I were your neighbor and your dog barked and woke me up, I would wake you up every time it happened.

You can't control him when your not home. So what is your neighbor to do ? put up with a barking dog ? If things were turned around what would you do ? Just grin and say he just barks when no one is home. She just left for work 1/2 an hour ago. so little doggie will only bark for another 7 1/2 hours.

I am sorry that you moved next door to such an unfortunate person. It sounds like this neighbor is a frequent complainer and the leasing office has had issues with her before. If I were you, I'd be proactive and check about any of your jurisdictions regulations on dogs and nuisance barking so that you know your rights. Document all contact with the neighbor and always treat her with courtesy and respect. If you smile and say hello to her it will be that much harder for her to be nasty to you.

I am too. From my perspective, I am not doing anything to bother you but your f ing dog is bothering me. Untrained dogs bark, those of us with trained dogs know this. Train your dog not to bark.
I have two hunting dogs, niether barks unless someone comes to the door. Watch a few episodes of the dog whisperer on discovery.
Your neighbor has a right to peace and quiet when your gone.
