A Baby at work?

There is this girl where i work that recently went on maternity leave, during her pregnancy at work that was the talk of the day everyday, when was she due? what was she naming the baby and blah blah blah. Now that she left on maternity leave about 2 weeks ago her sister (that also works here) went around every office showing a picture of the new baby. Now today the mom and the baby will be comming to work just to show everyone the baby, i mean what for? Am i wrong to be feeling like this? I am not a bitter guy or anything i just think that there are certain things you just dont have to share with your coworkers, i mean its just work for christ's sake! I dont have kids of my own and am not planning on anytime soon, i love kids and all but for this lady to come and show her baby around, i mean is that really necessary? Shouldnt she just be enjoying her new baby and her time off work? Why does this bother me?

Come on dude it's a girl thing.

Ah, there is your answer, you said it yourself. I don't have kids of my own and am not planning on anytime soon.

lol, just let it be, it will all die down soon enough!

It shouldn't bother you. You should be happy that she likes her job enough to show her coworkers the baby. It's a part of her life and she's just excited to share it with everyone.

You shouldnt feel that way! She is proud of her new baby and wants to show it off. If you dont want to be involved, then make yourself busy. Geez! Just because you arent interested doesnt mean no one else shouldnt be!

Your last sentence tells it all - and that's what you should be working on: WHY does this bother you? If you're attending to your own job responsibilities, how will this co-worker coming into the office to show off her baby even affect you? Just do your job, and get over it.......

Having a new baby IS a big deal. Alot of people feel close to people they work with. She probably shared stuff with others during her pregnancy, and now that the baby is here she wants to show the baby to them.

Some day if you have a baby with someone, you will probably want to show it off too.

I consider my coworkers (and my ex-coworkers) to be my friends and I would want to show them my newest addition. She's just proud of her baby and wants everyone to share the joy.

It's normal.

I am not sure why this bothers you but it sounds like everyone else in the office is interested in her new baby. You don't want them to think ill of you so when she comes I would just get super busy with your work so it doesn't seem like you are heartless. Just say hello, and smile while getting up to quickly file ppwk or go to the copier etc...

This too shall pass
