Stomach virus/viral infection during pregnancy?

I'm 5 months pregnant with my second child and for the past 2 days, when I go lay down for bed I have had the same symptoms and it's scaring me. It starts out with my stomach hurting VERY bad, extreme pain in my stomach, then I get the chills and begin to shake and my teeth actually chatter sometimes, I then got up to go to the bathroom and I have moderate diarrhea, then I begin to forcefully vomit so much that it hurts my abdominal muscles and in my back. I completely emptied my stomach contents and continued dry heaving. I also noticed I had broken out in grainy looking red splotchy rash on my face. Anybody have any idea what this could be? Any suggestions, stories to share? I'm worried how it could be affecting the baby. I called my ob/gyn this morning and he said he wanted me to come into the office and be seen today. He said it sounded like it could be a viral infection and he wanted to examine the rash. I'm scared now. Could this hurt my baby? Is it normal for a pregnant woman to

get viral infections like that? I never had one with my first pregnancy. Anyhow, we use Vonage and I didn't know our phone was out so I missed the call when they called back to give me a time to come in so I wasn't able to be seen today. Thanks alot Vonage!!! Now I have an appt. to come in at 10:15 in the morning. I hope everything is going to be alright. Any info to share is appreciated.

im 5 months pregnant to and a month ago i had the same thing, just i didn't get a rash. your baby sould be fine as long as you stay hydrated. the doctor i saw said that powerade or gatorade is the best because they have the sugars and stuff you need to keep your body functioning. Remeber your eating and drinking for two so drink extra lots if you don't that could be what would hurt your baby. The doctor also told me not to try and eat if i don't feel like it because you could make things worse. I know how scary it is to get sick when your pregnant. If you have anything like what i had just stay hydrated, don't force your self to eat, and you should be fine. Good luck.

Sounds like what the other gals describe as Fifth's Disease. I'd give the doctor's office a call. I can't tell you much because I never even heard of it until about 5 years ago.

I got a stomach virus with my first and went from 119lbs. to 114lbs. but ended up fine with a very healthy baby.With my fourth i had it again and swore I was in labor it hurt so bad but it was only a stomach bug.
