Has anyone ever worked for the apparently 'upscale' retailer 'Brookstone'?

I've seen that they are hiring in my area...and I'm just wondering what this company is like to work for. A little bit of their description is, "Your focus will be on sales and profit generation through the use of an aggressive sales environment, detailed and properly executed plan-o-gram compliance, associate development and training, product knowledge, and product mix enhancement."

I've worked retail for 2+ years and have customer service/sales experience. I worked for an Office Depot store selling Technology products. Yeah, we had the supposed 'aggressive sales environment' junk. We had the impossible goals that corporate and our managers expected us to meet, but of course those usually did not get met unless it just happened to be a good day where people were willing to buy things. Of course, I won't share that during any interview, I know better than that. But I'm used to the retail 'goals' at most places, which realistically never get done, no matter how much they are expected

I'm just wondering what kind of place this is to work for. It's 'retail', but it is a notable point that it's apparently not just like any old big-box chain retail store. It does indeed seem to be more upscale...I saw a $4,000 chair on their website, and a lot of their items are very high priced.

I'm used to setting plan-o-grams, learning about product specs, etc. I can deal with that. Just wondering if this is one of those super stressful all-sales-focused places that would be miserable to work at. I have no problem with selling something to anyone...or suggestive selling, upselling, etc. However...I do have a problem with the companies that won't take no for an answer, and expect a 'forced sale' even when the customer clearly is not interested. Can anyone tell me about this work environment in one of these stores? Thanks

Brookstone is like Sharper Image but higher end stuff. It is probably like working in a jewelry store. The clients expect a little sucking up.

It is definitly a sales environment, but you make your big bucks on people comming back, not the initial sale. I think they probably understand that at a classier place like that.
