Is it hereditary?

There is this annoying woman at work. She's really slow like mentally retarded slow. She takes 2 days just to finish a sentance. Is it due to being dropped a lot as a baby? The wierd thing is her sister sounds and talks just like her! And her newphew is the same. Is it also hereditary? She takes peoples food without asking. If someone brings in doughnuts she gets excited like a kid on Christmas Day. This woman is 50 years old! She also hordes snacks for herself in her desks and never offers to share or pay for people's lunches when all of us have bought her lunch. Everyday there is something wrong with her...either it's her head, brain, neck, foot, arm, stomach. She is just wierd!!!! And loud too. She will loudly announce to the office if you arrive late and what took so long. And if you brought her any food.

Oh and we can't do anything because she's a federal employee so if we tried to get her lazy *** fired she would go to EEO. Which sucks. She's out for 2 weeks due to carpel tunnel but yet says she's going out shopping????

What you are describing are symptoms of a mental illness or a complete lack of social skills. The fact she becomes so excited over food leads me to believe it could be a mental illness, especially coupled with the hypochondria. The thing is if she is not doing her job compently or does not meet criteria then she can be fired....The EOE is set up to protect people from unfair firings from race, sex, handicap or creed. It does not protect them from incompetance. If documentation is kept on her inability to preform her job then yes she maybe fired.......If you want rid of her because she really gets on your last nerve the EOE will protect her.

It takes all kinds I quess. She must have some juice at work to keep her job! Good luck sounds like she is giving everyone a life lesson on having self control.

I think she must be a little "slow". I do believe it may be hereditary re: rest of family. It happens. One gene short.

There is a woman on our street like this. Asked my husband if she could borrow some of my clothes (I was out - he was shocked and said no)! Huh??? Oh boy. She is 50ish. Loud, rude, self absorbed. No social skills whatsoever.

I suggest you think about not encouraging her, i.e., no more lunches or favours, try not to react/respond to childish comments.

Sadly, like training a dog, reward the good, ignore the rest. My situation was fortunate, I don't work with her and told her to keep away from our home. Now she refers to us as "F'n SNOBS" - loudly. Don't care, we got her away from us.
