If Ron Paul said he did not write racist newsletter why not sue for slander??

Isn't it strange for a person to have a newsletter that has in it racist comments but claims he did not know about them and said he did not write them. Could it be he was aware of these racial comments and gave the person authorization to use his name knowing full well he could denied any association later. If the comments are not his comments why don't Ron Paul sue the person for slander who wrote them? On CNN, Ron Paul was asked did he read these newsletters and he said occasionally. What does that mean? Does it means at sometime you might have been aware of these comments and you chose not to do anything about them. I welcome your thoughts about this

A person on CNN website wrote the following with whom I share his views:
"Smear or not, Ron Paul is one of two things: a moron for allowing garbage like that to be printed in his name for over a decade, or actually a racist after all. Either way, he's not fit for office, and is doing more damage than good for the libertarian perspective. And I say that as someone who donated to his campaign". -Dave

The Dude-- it鈥檚 the second posting of the newsletter story. I am posting it a second time so I can hear more opinions about this issue rather than Paul supporters鈥?standard line. Yes, they would be morons if they allow for such comments to be printed in their names for over a decade. Paul's past action is a sign as to how he would run the White House if he got elected. Terribly I might add!!

I still can't believe why the Paulites keep saying its a lie, when in fact Ron Paul wrote and published those newsletters himself. The Ron Paul brigade have chosen to believe thier leader is perfect and couldn't have writen such vile garbage.

I believe him when he says he did not personally write this crap.. but I too wish he would make an effort to find out who did and why. If he does not, this will always be on his record and will eventually hurt him.

Yeah, there's no way that he didn't know it was going on. He had to have read it at least once during those ten years and seent he ridiculous garbage, and he had to have gotten letters/phone calls/angry conversations over their contents.

The worst part is that he doesn't seem very sorry over the whole thing.

I'm just waiting for them to get on Paul's articles in the "American Free Press" along side some of its anti-Sematic garbage, then we'll see some real **** hit the fan.

Lets not forget first and foremost he is a politician, he will lie and say whatever he needs to say at any given moment to get people to believe in him, regardless of how he will have to backtrack on the same statement later if it suits him at that given moment.

boy what is This the 5th time you reposted this , you know the answer , if the guy was working for the newsletter than ron paul cant sue him , he can only fire him.

scince it did come out in a rp newsletter then rp cant sue the newsreaders

and does that make hillary and biden a moron also they also blamed aids and workers for things that came out from their campaigns

give me a break with your multiple posting

shall we talk about the corrpution in rudys selections , dose that make rudy corupt , damn straight it does

or mccains druggie wife, or his maffia ties or the keating 5 scandle that killed our savings and loans structure ,

or thompsons spiing in the watergate scandle

In fact, Buzhardt is on the Watergate tapes, telling Nixon that Thompson is a loyal operative on the committee. He says that Thompson was "willing to go, you know, pretty much the distance now. And he said he realized his responsibility was going to have be as a Republican increasingly."

Thompson himself admitted his illicit spying role in his little-known 1975 book about Watergate: ""Even though I had no authority to act for the committee, I decided to call Fred Buzhardt at home [to inform him about the tapes]. I wanted to be sure that the White House was fully aware of what was to be disclosed so that it could take appropriate action."

or romneys staffer pretending they are police officers

Illegally Impersonating Police Officers
The most bizarre scandal of Romney's campaign involves Jay Garrity, Mitt's director of operations (basically, his right-hand man.) Garrity resigned from the campaign after several allegations that he claimed to be a policeman, and used that authority to intimidate people.
In one case, Garrity pulled over a New York Times reporter, ran his plates and ordered him to stop following the campaign caravan. In another, he allegedly called a plumbing company to complain about one of their employees, whose driving upset him, and identified himself as "Trooper Garrity of the Massachusetts State Police." Garrity denied that allegation, but he was cited by Boston police in 2004 for having police equipment -- including flashing lights -- in his Crown Victoria sedan without authorization. The phone call was recorded because an answering service actually fielded the call, which the person who called himself "Trooper Garrity" apparently didn't notice.

Despite his resignation, Garrity remains under investigation in two states for impersonation of police.

Well, it gets worse. According to three different anonymous sources, one who works for the Romney campaign, Garrity made up fake police badges -- bright silver plates with the seal of Massachusetts on them -- and gave them to several other staffers, who used them to order reporters and other people out of events, get past security guards, and avoid paying highway tolls. In fact, Garrity has been handing out badges since Romney was governor of Massachusetts.

So this was not just one staffer's personal fetish. Sources named at least two other Romney staffers who used the badges -- Mark Glanville and William Ritter. "They knew the badges were fake and probably illegal," the campaign source said. In fact, Garrity was Romney's right-hand man and rarely left his side. It's hard to believe that Mitt Romney himself did not notice the fact that Garrity was constantly flashing a police badge as they blew through security into various events. The Romney campaign has not commented on whether Mitt Romney knew about the badges.

Using fake badges is, of course, illegal.

he wrote them, or he approved them before printing

I believe him when he says that he didn't write the material, didn't see it until later, and disagrees with the racist content.

But, on the other hand, this stuff was being published for years in "Ron Paul" newsletters. While it's okay for Paul to give someone else permission to edit a "Ron Paul" newsletter, he should at least have gone over each issue's selections before publication. In short, I think that Paul failed badly here on the personal responsibility that he talks about so much.
