I can't find work here(NYC) and if I don't get the rent money in 2 weeks, I will be evicted! Any suggestions?

I moved here from FL, where I had no problem finding cust svc jobs. I've always dreamed of living here in NY and I thought I could get a better paying career job here in the big city, so I moved here almost a year ago. However, since I've been here, I've only found one job that was under paying me, cutting my hours, a part-time position and a waste of time since I basically worked all night, had no life and still struggled to pay the bills. The only method of job seeking I'm familiar with is applying online. Craigslist seems to be the only site I can apply on, but I'm getting no luck getting called back for an interview. I have more than 2 years exp. in customer service and general office jobs, so I'm not understanding why I'm getting no interviews. Plus the ones I have gottten, have passed me up to hire someone else, even though I have experience. I'm at the end of my luck and facing homelessness if I don't get a job soon. Someone please HELP me by offering or refferring me to a job.

try coney island, nathans. during the summer they can always use help. work there until you get the job you want. they are hiring. as for the eviction the landlord have to go through the courts to evict you! In the meantime go to landlord and tenant court in the borough where you live, they have a resource room where you can ask for help with your rent. I work at L&T court. the help is there you just have to know how to use it.!

First off, There is way more out there than the internet. Get yourself a paper and start looking through the wanted adds. They divide them into sections so there should be a customer service type area.

Second, Call a temp agency or a job placement center and see if you can hook up with their service. There are companies that look for full time careers for you, look in the phonebook. Have someone look at your resume, you may think it is great, but maybe it can use some tweeking or a full revamp.

Third, craig's list is not a great resource. Try any of the multitude of job-finding sites that are out there

this is a link to 10 of them. post your resume and start looking for jobs there. Typing customer service into Monster.com for NY yeilded 2,252 results.

Forth, pound the pavement. Figure out what your ideal job type is, put on your interviewing clothes and start going to companies and handing out resumes.

Fifth, make sure you are showing a good face, you want to represent these companies to customers and if you cannot find a job doing that find one flipping burgers or picking up garbage while you look.
