MS Word 2008: Can't move cursor with mouse?!?

I was working in Word and suddenly I can't move the cursor in the document with my mouse. The mouse works fine, and I tested it in several other programs. But in Word, the insert cursor stays in one position on the page. Also, I can type on the document, but can not highlight text to delete, etc. or move the cursor to a previous point in the text.

I have rebooted the computer, checked all the Insert/Delete buttons, installed the latest MS Office '08 service pack and done everything else I can think of. Please help, I'm beginning to plot an evil attack on Microsoft and must be stopped. : )

This is not a trial version. It is a registered copy of MS Office Professional.

if it is a trial it will do that
then i bought the program in bestbuy and installed it and it worked
if you dont want to pay all that money
Openoffice.org is similar is campatible and is free
