If i buy an ipod touch do I have to buy anything else to make it work? exp like a software or something?

I never had an ipod so I don't know how it works.. I've search the internet but i didn't find any guides for new users..All the guides that i've found compare the ipod touch with the others but that is useless for me 'cause i don't know how to use a previous version of ipod. so if i buy an ipod touch do i have to buy anything else to make it work properly? (like when you buy a computer the windows are installed but you have to buy the microsoft office) and does it work with windows xp home edition ?(i don't know what service pack is).....thank you

Only requirements are Mac running Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later or Windows PC running XP Home/Professional (with Service Pack 2 or later) or Vista. To check which version of Windows you have installed, right click on My Computer then select Properties.

You will need to download and install iTunes 7.6 or later as well (see second source for a link). If iTunes works on your PC, you will be able to use iPod touch.

Well it requires iTunes and Quicktime, where you can download here http://www.apple.com/itunes/download and you need Service Pack 2. you can find that out by going to start, and right click on my computer and it should tell you what service pack you have
