Could This happen to Obama.....?

I see it on the news all the time....Obama shaking people's hands & in the WIDE OPEN. Everytime I see him doing that it feels like someone is going to pull a weapon out & stab him or shoot him.(And YES I know most of the news is taped but still).

I hope it won't happen....But....Do you think as the Final Election draws closer or if Obama gets to office that he will get killed by some dude or group that just don't like people of color or that just can't stand being in the mist of a President of color?

BTW..I know he'll have The Secret Service to protect him...but come on! Ever seen "In The Line Of Fire"..that movie could become real if someone is smart & patient enough.

And Please no smart remarks like..."We can only pray it will happen."

Honestly I have to admit being an American living outside the US. We don't have filtered media like they do in the USA, this election has been made to become like picking the winner on 'Big Brother' by the US media favoring "John McCain" to win.

By constantly discrediting Mr Obama or Mrs Clinton. With using many typical US media tricks to sway many US voters to vote for "John McCain". (We all see this overseas)

You might not see this living in the United States being totally drawn into these filtered US media trick's.

Firstly how many times, in say the last month or so have you seen "John McCain" discredited or a dirt campaign has been placed on him. Answer is there hasn't been anything at all only a heartfelt music played in the back of a very good edited US media interview to make him look like General Patton and a American war hero and good standing Christian. You could almost imagine a halo above his head.

Nearly everyday there is always a new dirt digging scandal dug up or created to discredit Mr Obama or Mrs Clinton, with good editing US media tricks a using dramatic under toned soundtrack to stir up emotion to anger and over dramatize on something that nobody really would truly give a dam about.

With this happening to Mr Obama is only a US filtered media fear created speculation to make people not want to vote for him to protect him from harm nothing more.

You guy's back home promise us ex pats you vote for the right person for the job.

hey man, anything can happen. the chance of him getting assasinated or killed is about 10% (in my opinion). but trust me, the government ain't gonna allow a black man to become president so i think John McCain has a better chance of taking office. and if he happens to be assasinated, than it would be the work of the CIA

Barrack Obama knows the dangers involved with being the first black nominee for President of the United States, yet he is willing to place himself at risk. I can only admire him for his courage and fortitude, he has my prayers and support.

There are others that would place Hilliary Clinton in the same high risk position. She also has my prayers and support.

It is unfortunate that we have this fear of strong women and black people in this country. We still have a ways to go before we can truly say, "We are one". I believe that Barrack Obama can close this gap.

These things are always possible, and lots of people think of it happening. Luckily, security officers also think of it happening. They are trained to be observant, and I'm fairly sure they are on full alert with situations like these. But still, the risk is always there, and you have to respect the courage these important people show every day when going into these risky situations.

i won't lie. it could happen. there's still the KKK and such. people wouldn't want him for his race. they won't like his politics. but think: there is ALWAYS a whitehouse doctor within close range of the president. there's a huge amount of security. i saw something about it on the news.
they aren't taking chances. we lost 4 presidents to assassination and then there were attempts, like the man who tried to shoot ronald reagen.

I think it is quite likely to happen. I hate to make a movie reference, but while it was a slightly funny movie, it just all seems like a bit of reality - "Head of State". I hope that it doesn't happen, but if it does, I definitely would NOT be surprised. People are already planning to do something stupid I am sure.

never happens. In my life time we lost JFK, RFK , and
almost lost Ronald Reagan to assassins...I certainly hope
this won't ever happen again. ( I never forgot about Rev.
King, but he was a leader in a different category and still
a tragic loss just the same).

No... apparently you haven't been to a big political rally. When Obama spoke at Independence Hall, you could see the guys up on the rooftops... Just because it seems open and unprotected doesn't mean it is. Don't get your hopes up people.

Any of the candidates has a significant risk. This is at least as significant for McCain or Clinton.

The running mate of each candidate may be a reason for killing a president... if the running mate is seen as a more manageable president.

It can....and has happened many times in the past. The assassinations, or attempted assassinations of Lincoln, McKinley, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy ( presidential candidate ), Ford, Reagan.

Unfortunately, the truth is that America has never been comfortable having a black man with a lot of power. some crazy white dude out there is going to try to kill him. don't believe me, ask Martin Luther Ki.... eeerrr forget it.

I am a christian and do not think Obama is the Anti Christ.
Although some people aren't okay with Obama being president.. I don't think anyone will kill him.
No one has killed George Bush, however; several people joke about how he will be shot

Anything can happen with all the freaks in the world. I was just sitting here thinking: That if Obama opted for Hillary as a running mate (and got elected), nobody would want to kill him for sure!

I hope that doesn't happen, but its very likely in my opinion...

That's why we have a vice-president, backed up by the Speaker of the House and then a list of cabinet members. There's an entire protocol should a president be assassinated, so that's covered by law and procedure. Basically, there's nothing between a CANDIDATE and assassination except Secret Service protection. If they fail, as they did with Bobby Kennedy, then another candidate steps in and the process continues. The question is, what are the chances of an assasination attempt, not by a deranged person, but by a competent assassination team? A 'lone gunman', given today's level of protection probably isn't an option. However, given today's technology an assassin team could 'get to' a president or candidate in several ways. A short range guided missile isn't outside the 'box' anymore. Nobody with a 'suicide vest' could get close enough, but a person with surgically implanted explosives could. A suborned Secret Service agent could be recruited, or a military officer or even a newspaper reporter. Oddly, a lot of people can get close enough to a president or candidate to do a lot of damage. A firearm may be out, but a small blowgun and poisoned dart would do the job. A skin transfered poison during a handshake is possible as well. The list, while not endless, is fairly extensive. Certainly Sen. Obama is the object of a drummed up hate campaign and 'hate' campaigns often produce individuals, cults or 'interest groups' that are willing and even eager to kill the object of that hate. Being the head of state or an individual vying for the job doesn't make you the safest person in the world. Danger comes with the territory. Personally I hope Sen. Obama is our next president, but I'm not certain I'd like to be the guy that writes his life insurance policy. It's a dangerous world! No kiddin'!

it won't be "people who don't like 'people of color'"--though it
might be made to appear to be.

It will be people who don't like your boy's middle initial and the
fact he went to a school in Indonesia whose facilities included
it's very own mosque, and they will be the self-same ingrate
neo-bolshevist ashekezionazihim elements who actually
assassinated JFK.

Since you're going around suggesting that when it happens it
will be someone else, you may very well be one of them laying
your groundwork now.

I don't think it's all a color issue, but he does face the same fears and anger as JFK and even his younger brother that have the capacity to upset a niche group.

I know so many think it's silly, or a Clinton death threat, but I don't think he will make it to term, if if does get elected. So do you vote for him, a sitting target, a tragedy waiting to happen, or an old guy who might pass on, while in office.

Above all, there is a group out there, not necessary white power types, who are afraid of change. Obama has this scary change in his voice, and I think he has awoken that monster who will make a statement one day. I hate to say, and I hope it doesn't happen.

The other part I would venture to forecast, just watching the ways desperate people are getting these days about pushing the world they way they see fit, if they do attempt something, it will probably be something very creative. Something not so old school as with JFK or even his brother at point blank range. Secret Service has all ready factor that kind of stuff, and most who would be silly enough to try have probably watched too many crime shows and fancy detectives work to try to pull of the perfect crime so to speak. That's why I am really fearful for that whole group, Obama and his people protecting him.

Haha. He's definitely going to get shot.

It'll probably be a government hit. :P
