If Obama becomes president?

and he gets that 1,000$ middle class tax cut, and stops tax on people over 65 making less than 50k per year, do you know what will happen? That will be 500 billion less in annual revenue in taxes. What are we going to replace that money with? Sure he said there will be a windfall tax on oil companies, but even if they put a staggering 20% tax on them, they are still only recouping about 50 billion or so? And they are not going to get much with that increase in SS income tax on the rich...maybe a few billion if they are lucky. So what programs will they cut with that 450 billion? Education? Funding for police? Fire depts? Social services? He's also stated he want to give 100 billion per year to africa. To me it sounds like he wants to get in the white house, raid the vault and give the money away and watch the country fall apart. No way the USA can continue to survive as a 1st world country if his tax cuts come into play. By the end of his 4th year in office, thats it 4 us.

Yeah you are right...we are paying too much for this war...but lets say Obama pulls us out of IRAQ/Afganistan and everywhere else on the day his tax cuts come into play...we are still in a worse boat....500 billion has been spent on the war since it started in 2003. (thats about 100 billion per year.) Obama is talking 500 billion per year in lost revenue. Imagine Bush just started 4 more wars that cost the same as iraq and thats the boat we will be in with obama!!!

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUESTION AND YOUR THOUGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama is promising the moon just to get elected. He is totally clueless and so are his little lost sheep. Either that or he is a one man show out to destroy America.

I urge everyone, young and old, to do the research. Read his two books, written in his own words. The only conclusion one can come to is that his so called CHANGE for America is that we will become a Socialistic/Communistic country. Try googling The Aim Report on Obama. Spend time researching instead of asking inflamatory questions that serve no purpose and prove no points.

Obama knows zilch about foreign policy, which has been made clear in his debates. Even Hillary had to call him down on his uneducated answers. If he can't get it right in a debate, how the heck is he going to persuade our foreign country leaders of anything? Without his "Xeroxed" speeches and his TelePrompter he stammers and stutters and comes out as a real loser. Yes, he can give an eloquent speech, but he is pathetic in debates and in interviews. The terrorists love him. I wonder why?

well, for starters, winding down the war with Iraq will save a few bucks.dont read half the story my friend, read the WHOLE story.

Have you considered how much Bush sends to Iraq monthly?
And over the last 5 plus years? What about Afghanistan?

There's billions to be saved by bringing our troops back. And stop the war machine.

The Bush Tax cut gave millionaire athletes a cash windfall that too many of them spent on drugs, whores and steroids. If we tax the wealthiest 1% of American Tax payers. I won;t lose any sleep.

End the war and we will save trillions. There's your answer.

I wonder how much more money this country would have if all are taxes weren't going to pay for the Iraq war

u toss and turn about this at night dont u..

Maybe he can borrow it from China !! Or better yet, just sell our souls to China !!

You are wasting time asking people on this site anything regarding DETAILS of taxes

How about bring troops back and there is the money to the tune of 3 billion a month or 25,000 a second

HE will not tax the middle class....targets the higher wage tax bracket.....even Warren Buffet supports him...drop in the bucket to them

Look up what real economist say without political agendas and can find true figures and facts

While ending the outlay for the war and increasing taxes on oil & gas, on the surface sound easy and good, think it through a little more.

In this day and age, the US must maintain a strong military, just in case ... sad but true. Although I do not support the idea of initiating war actions instead of trying to talk them through diplomatic channels, I recognize the need for a strong, modern military.

On a side note, I believe military service is good for some our young people. It takes them at a time they are ready to leave home but some are not ready to be without the disicipline. It teaches them self respect, working as a team, plus lots of other practical skills. For that alone, the military is one of the best investments we currently have.

As for more taxes on oil & gas, and no I am not a big fan of these money grubbers, truth spinners and destroyers of our natural resources. They are going to get their profits over our immobile bodies folks. If taxes are raised on them, they will immediately raise our retail costs. We'd be taxing ourselves. Better we should push our local communities for investments in local transit plans, change our driving habits and save our oil for heating and industry.

Can Obama or McCain do any of this? Both have the ability but it will depend on who they put in positions to make good decisions. If we get stuck with good-ol' boys and repayment for campaign contributions ol' boys, well, we're in big trouble folks. Hey candidates, remember you can do "pay-back" with ambassadorships to places with no people - it's really the title they want.

The money will come from 10's of billions of dollars per month being flushed down the craphole of Iraq. it will also come from the One and a half trillion dollars that will be gained from 5% of the population that controls 90% of the wealth, having to pay the same percentage of their income as their secretaries or I pay. A tax cut for the rich class that the McBushes belong to. Obama wants to repeal that tax cut.
