Atheists, tell me something. In reading the general opinions Atheists have of Christians...?

...tell me. Would you refuse the services of a doctor if you saw that the doctor a Christian symbol somewhere on his desk, or hanging on his office wall?

Would you pull your child out of a science class if you found out the the person teaching it was a Christian?

Would you pull your account from a stock broker that you found out was a Christian?

Would you fire, or not hire in the first place, someone that you found was a Christian?

Would you have friends who were Christians?

Keeping in mind that none of these people tried to get you to "know Jesus", no one wanted you to go to their church or even read a pamphlet.

Just curious.

Jill,

Perhaps it is. A moronic question asked in the face of questionable statements made by some Atheists on the board. Constantly I've read about how stupid, ignorant and backward Atheists believe all Christians must be in order to be people of faith.

I simply wanted to know how many actually live their lives according to what they say here.

Since most Americans identify themselves as Christians, your rhetorical questions are really quite perposterous.

However, I don't think you are sincerely asking a question, I think you just want to get in a little dig at atheists.

I pick accountants, teachers & friends on their qualifications, character & how they treat people, not by what religion they say they are.

Would you refuse to be treated by an atheist doctor ? Would you pull your account from a stock broker.

I had a "bus friend" for a while. Someone who rides the same bus as me, and we used to make pleasant small talk. Today however, he tried to convert me to HIS BRAND of Christianity. When I politely told him I don't believe in the bible, he called me a "piece of s----" and called me stupid and shallow. He told me I was going to hell.

I will NOT make anymore small talk with him on the bus, and if he sits down next to me, I will move somewhere else.. However, my refusal to ever speak to him or sit next to him again, is due to his OBNOXIOUS behavior, not his religion. Most Christians know how to behave themselve, obviously this particular Christian does not.

BTW, I am agnostic, hope you don't mind me answering the question.

Edit: You stated that you are asking this question based on some atheist answers. Have you NOT noticed some of the Christian question and answers that are slams against atheists, claiming that atheist have NO MORALS and that the ONLY reason they don't believe in GOD is so they behave in the most depraved, barbaric manner possible ?????? So based on THOSE questions from SOME Christians, why don't you try asking this same question of Christians in regards to atheist ?????

I don't give a damn what you say or do outside of R&S- whilst here, you should know that we can't do very much except treat people on the basis of their beliefs.
and agnostics should really have the balls to believe something- anything! Report It

And THIS is why queenthesbian is one of my contacts. Good answer. Report It

yasiru89, you could reserve judgment until you actually read something that would point to a person being a bigot, a homophobe or a generally rotten person. Report It

1) I would be less likely to give my business to any professional who advertises his religious affiliation. I would be concerned that he will give me less than professional service should he find out that I don't belong to his advertised club.

2) I would pull my child out of science class if the teacher were spouting fantasies like creationism instead of teaching truth. However, if that christian science teacher were following the approved curriculum, I would not pull my child out.

3) I would not pull my account from a stockbroker who was christian unless he or she did item # 1 above.

4) I would not fire, or not hire based on religion or non-religion, race, ethnicity, or veteran status.

5) I do have friends that are christian.

"...tell me. Would you refuse the services of a doctor if you saw that the doctor a Christian symbol somewhere on his desk, or hanging on his office wall?"

No.

"Would you pull your child out of a science class if you found out the the person teaching it was a Christian?"

No.

"Would you pull your account from a stock broker that you found out was a Christian?"

No.

"Would you fire, or not hire in the first place, someone that you found was a Christian?"

No.

"Would you have friends who were Christians?"

Almost all of my friends are Christians. I know one single other atheist in the real world.

I would have no problem with any of those professionals so long as they were competent and did not let their religion interfere with their job.

I would be less inclined to hire a Christian in a situation that required honesty, as so much of faith involves being dishonest (to oneself, if not anyone else).

I have no problem with people who believe, and have certainly had my share of Christian friends. Christianity is so prevalent in this culture it would be pretty difficult to avoid in any case, unless you wanted to be really extreme about.

I've just made my peace with and grown accustomed to most people around me being wrong - my cross to bear, such as it is...

No to all of the above, except for the question regarding friends. Out of everyone I know, work with, and am related to, only about 2% of them are non-Christian.

I saw an add in the yellow pages for a painter, and he clearly advertised that he was a Christian. ....Does the religion of the guy painting the trim on your house really make that much difference???

1. No. I would refuse his service if he were to use quack methods (like "laying of the hands," etc)

2. No, that's stupid. Most teachers ARE Christian. However, if you're speaking of those who teach ID and/or creationism.

3. Again, no. If he were giving me bad returns, I would, like any other person would.

4. No, that's illegal.

5. I have friends of many faiths and those who don't have any.

-You've got it all wrong. I don't hate religious people, and that doctor is using medicine from the help of scientists.

Either way that would have zero affect on me,I don't care what the religion of the person is,as long as they keep their beliefs to themselves.

-No

-No

-No

-Yes,I have friends who are Christians already, just not hardcore ones,so to speak.

1. I have a wonderful doctor right now who is VERY Christian. But he is a good guy and knows what he is doing so I am fine with that.

2. Not unless they were refusing to teach real science.

3. Nope.

4. Nope.

5. Have many many many of them.

I have no problem with most Christians. I can even tolerate some of the more fanatical ones depending on the context of the relationship. They are not all "bad" people. Some are just more annoying then others.

no. as long as the doctor was ethical
the teacher taught the curriculum that he/she was supposed to and nobody pushes their religion on me i have no problem.

i think that many christians are great people and i think alot of people misunderstand that when many of us mention christians in a negative way, we are only referring to the pushy, nasty bigots, not the kind and non-judgemental people.

The fish is a subtle tipoff - it's not about being a Christian, but being the type of Christian who needs to advertise.

Christian fish on a bumper - that car gets a wide berth. Same with those "In case of rapture" stickers.

Christian fish on a consumable product - slightly less likely to buy, since the "Jesus" angle is a hint that they're trying to make up for lack of quality by blatant consumer asskissing.

remember
part never represents the whole

i personally do not look at it in that sense. I respect people that have religions or are spiritually active(if that makes sense).

in any case, all people have different views apart from what their stance on god/God is. That's what separates us from the monkeys and lizards, we have the ability to think

Because that'd make me a hater.
I am not a hater.

No.
No.
No.
No.
Yes.

I don't understand why so many have a hard time understanding that atheists simply do not like it when religion attempts to shape or remove the rights of a people. I personally don't care what anyone does in their free-time as long as they respect me and my family, don't try to affect policy that will impose upon my rights and don't yammer on endlessly about how wrong they think I am.

Live and let live.

No, why would I?

If someone is the most qualified, I dont care if they worship Satan as long as they get the job done.

Unlike your fellow Christians, we dont care what a person believes so long as they dont try and force their beliefs on us.

BTW pretty much all my friends are Christians, all but a couple

nonsense, why would any logical athiest do these things? If someone was teaching magical christian dogma I could understand pulling them out of the class, or making investments made on religious omens but outside of that these are just poor attempts at loaded questions lol.

No, because where I live, I wouldn't be able to do anything if I refused service or association with Christians. I'd just. . . . sit at the park and cover my eyes for fun.

cant we all just be "people"?

Most of my friends are xians. As long as they arent trying to *convert* me, I dont have a problem with any of them.

What if the question was reversed? Would this country elect an Atheist as president??

Why would I care, if they get their respective jobs done, its okay by me. I have no right to tell them to believe what I want, and tehy have no right to tell me if my gods are false.

lol, its Christianity that annoys me, not Christians. No to all of these, except the last one (yes, I have many, many Christian friends. One of them just spent a couple hours at my house earlier today).

Nope. Former believer.
Nope. I've known many.
My account broker is Jewish.
Nope.
I have many friends who are Christian.

you make out as if atheists are AGAINST Christan's

it just means we dont believe in any religions
we still have moral values...

just because we dont have CHRIST telling us what to do doesn't mean we would let a christian die
oh dear

1.NO
2. NO
3.NO
4. NO
5. YES, I already do.

I'm curious what you expected us to answer. We're not monsters.

After reading headlines I might be a little worried what the doctor would do if they knew I was an atheist.

I have friends who are christians but none of us care what the other believes or doesn't.

No to all of those.

The majority of my family, relatives and many friends are christian.

What a moronic question.

no to all but the last i have christian friends they know what i think of religion but someones faith doesn't change what i think of them or how well I think they can do their job

wow i really don't see what basing a lifestyle on having no faith accomplishes kinda stupid how about you don't believe in god and leave it their

No.

No.

No.

No.

Almost all of my friends are christians.

No.
No.
No.
No.
Yes, I do have Christian friends.

I love your question!! wanna know why??? Because I am a christian.
Looking forward to seeing all the answers.
Thanks fellow Christian!!

Absolutely not... would you not associate with someone of a different faith than you? Or let them be your doctor or child's teacher?

No.

No.

No.

No.

No.

Would Christians do the same if the opposite were the case?
