Looking for a new job in Cedar Rapids, IA. Any suggestions?

So I've worked part time as a cashier at an office supply store for about a year. But they decided to stop giving me hours for no apparent reason. I want to find a new job this summer. I've done food service and hated it. I'm thinking either another retail job or maybe a daycare since I like kids. Any suggestions based on personal experience? Any stores I should apply for that pay well and/or are decent to work at? Any places I should definitely avoid? Suggestions from people in Cedar Rapids would be even more helpful. Thanks!
