How do I update my pc into Microsoft service pack 2 when the license is blocked?

The reason why I am asking is because I want to install MS Office 07 and I can't because of the service pack thing.
I tried to update it on microsoft.com but they can't because the license of my OS is not authentic. It is blocked. My friends told me the last option would be to reformat. And that is just hard.

If you OS in not authentic, ie, Pirated, your only avenue would be to purchase a Genuine "KEY" from Microsoft. Or you could purchase a new XP CD and start all over again. But you had better do this pretty soon. I'm reading that XP will no longer be available for retail purchase after June 30 of this year.

For the guy that said XP wont be available anymore...he needs to read more because yesterday they expanded XP until June 30th 2010

get a friend that has an authentic version of windows to put SP 2 on to disk for you and try to install that way
