Is it good to have "References will be provided upon request" on the resume?

Hi!

I have an interview tomorrow, Friday, April 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the Tehama County (Red Bluff, California) Department of Social Services for an Office Assistant II position. I want to know from all the human resource managers (directors) and all the bosses of the world if I have a reference page, would you want to see "References will be provided upon request" on the resume? What is the rule of thumb in that situation? I have heard many different things from the bosses of some of the companies around Redding, California where I live about this, and now I want to know from the other bosses what you think about this. Thanks!

Leave it off the resume. The resume gets you the interview not the job.

Now during the interview, they may hit you up for the references at that time. Nothing makes a better impression than pulling out a neat list with proper names and numbers, but only if they ask for it. People have lost a competitve job by not having a ready list at interview time to another individual who had their stuff together.

Since you made it to the interview, they are looking to hire you. Make it easy for them and they will.

Best wishes.

for a government job, your interview will be based on a standard set of questions that they will ask all the applicants. I always liked seeing the names and information on references on the resume'. If you didn't provide them on your resume', have a list with you ready to give them.

They have to ask everyone the same questions for EOE reasons. You may be asked some follow ups to the "canned" set of questions, but they shouldn't go too far from the questions. They may even give you a set of the questions ahead of time to review.

good luck with the interview

I'm not sure how you do the resume thing in California but most resumes do not require that anymore. No one i know puts that on their resume anymore.I think it is just assumed that during the interview they will ask you for references if needed.

Yes. Y
