How would one go about getting a job as an aide with an Ohio Senator or Representative?

I have 7 months of relevant experience. I interned for 2.5 months with a non-profit organization in Washington DC, and interned another 2.5 months with an Ohio Congressman in Washington DC. I also volunteered for 2 months with a Congressional campaign in Cincinnati, OH. I know one way to get my foot in the door would be to participate in Ohio's Legislative Service Commission internship program. However, I was wondering if there are any other ways to get my foot in the door. Should i contact members offices directly? Could I begin by volunteering and work my way into a paid position? Do Ohio Senators and Representatives have offices in their home district, or do they only work in Columbus? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Call their offices directly and give them your elevator pitch. If you have relationships with the offices you did your internships with, call them and ask them for contacts. That's what politics is about - relationships.
