I want to drop out of college!! i need advice!?

i am going to college for physical therapy but before i get into that program i have to have a 4.0GPA. currently my GPA is a 2.9. i feel like i am waisting my time and my money (the school cost $40,000 a year) because i'm not even in that program yet and i dont know when i will get in it. i really dont wnt to be in school for 10years. I already have an associates degree in human services. but there isn't a lot of jobs for just an associates degree. can i get any suggestions or comments. Should i finish this semester and not register for next semester? and i dont even know what office i have to go to do drop out!!!

First of all, if you've already paid for this semester then it makes sense to finish it out. This will not only be smart financially but it will also keep your transcripts in tact in case you do take a break from school and then at some time in the future decide to return to school. Dropping may add to your troubles so if you can finish out this semester.

As far as your GPA; it's good at 2.9. And if you're only a few years in to college you've got a chance to get it to over a 3.0. A 3.0 is the magic number and it will open lots of doors for you including physical therapy school.

Sometime when things don't go our way it's a good time to not do anything. What I mean is each day brings some new options or hope or people into our lives that change the way we view things. Why don't you hang in there and see if that adage of "god helps those who help themselves" is really true. I'm not a holy roller but I understand that tough times pass...I hope you finish out the semester but mostly that while doing so you find that thing that motivates you on to greater things.

Do you really want to be a physical therapist? That's the first question you need to answer. If the answer is yes, then you have a couple options - 1) stay in the program you're in and work toward the PT program or 2) look into other places where you can get the experience/degree you need for a PT job.

I wouldn't drop out just because your GPA dropped....there must be more than what you have here. But, if you really want to be a physical therapist, then you will find a way to make that happen. If that's not what you really want to do, then you need to look at other careers and what you need to do to get jobs in those fields.

The first thing you need to do is to think about is how much you want to be a physical therapist. The second thing you need to do is figure out why you want to quit, and what you need to do in order to get where you need to be. Can you find the motivation to get where you need to go?

I would suggest that you don't drop out now (unless you're flunking all your classes.) If you manage to pass your current credits you have earned credits.. and they always count towards something. You've already paid for the semester, so if you can get something out of that you're better off. If you're burnt out, consider taking a year off and going back?

I've always come from the idea that you can accomplish whatever you set you're mind on. Are you sure you need a 4.0 to get into that program? Programs like that generally have fairly high expectations, but that seems like overkill. I think its totally possible for you to bring your GPA up. Its just going to take the motivation to do the work and get good grades.
