I lost my job?

i work at university health services ( office clerk) & my Tb skin test was positive. My Chest x-ray was normal. Can theyy fire me cause of that? Is it discrimination?

well they fired me cause of that. Can they do that?

No, they should not have a right to fire you over a positive skin test. I had a TB skin test come out positive, and my chest X-ray was normal. All my employer (I worked at a hospital, too) made me do was see a doctor and be treated. I took a drug called INH. I had to take it for one year. I was not fired over it. Call your state"s labor board and see if they had the right to fire you over something that you really don't have (a positive TB skin test does not mean that you have TB, only that you have been exposed to it.) You probably got exposed to it at work. TB tests can give a false positive, at least that's what my doctor said. He didn't think my test was positive. He thought the person in the hospital read it wrong. But I was treated without problems. My employer did not think I was a threat to my patients. I never lost my job over it. Call a lawyer if in doubt.

No they cannot ! If your chest x-ray was normal you are not walking around spreading the disease. Many people have this happen and have never been aware of the fact that they contracted the disease in the first place. My daughter had a positive test a few years ago while in elementary school - who knows where it came from. You have every right to appeal this ! Contact the department of labor first thing in the morning.

You should be able to apply for some kind of benefits because TB can be passed onto other people.

You cannot be fired and if they did , you can draw unemployment or if you get a lawyer a settlement. you are not contamidated and you cannot spead tb . you came in contact but your xray proves your okay.

Skin tb test positive is not mean you have active tb,especially negative of chest x-ray.Many people work with patients developed positive due to chronic contact to TB patient.Since you work in health service department,your positive result possible job related.They not only can't fire you they need to take care your problems.
