It's normal that things dissapear at the US Postal Service?

I bought this Sony Computer through Ebay three weeks ago. The item was shipped from San Francisco California. The Post Master told me that no matter was a Priority Mail package it was gonna take three weeks. The package never arrived to my Box (since February 13,2008), the track number confirms that the package never went out of San Francisco Postal Office. It is normal for high prices items to dissapear? cause I never had any problem with any item I bought before at Ebay. What should I do? I escalated a dispute to Pay Pal but is that fair for someone who did sent the item? The item was insured but is the seller who has to ask to the postal service to pay the item... does someone knows about that process? Im desperated.

Your track number is enough so write to Ebay and Pay Pal and if not successful consider Small Claims Court. Before the legal way visit their sites and ask for help and take names.

The Post Master only cared about money so he was not a professional manager.

USPS go postal because of their supervisors,but mainly the Post Master of that office. These Post Masters care only for profit since they are not from the US Government. Just ask any postal service employee.

If you didn't get the item and they can't prove it was delivered to your address, then the burden is on them to pay. You have proof it never got to you, so it's not your fault.

Even if they delivered the item and it wasn't what you ordered, you would still dispute it.

I'm not clear about the three weeks. Priority mail should only take 3 days at most. How do you know the item never left the SF office? Does the tracking number say, "item not found" with no information? The most likely explanation for this is the item was never mailed. Beware of unscrupulous ebay sellers who pick up blank insurance forms at a PO and give you them as a tracking number.

Ask the seller to fax you the insurance receipt, it should have a postmark on it. If the seller does not comply, I'd file a dispute pronto.
