College acceptance at any UC. Help.. Can I get in?

I've tooken a few SAT practice test (3)and recieved scores 1630, 1625, 1730.. in that order. I am currently a junior and my current grade average since freshman year is 3.50 weighted. I'm a Honors student but has only taken 1 AP class.

I am co-drum major, first chair baritone, bowling captain, bowling league president, 60+ hours of community service at office and church, 'most spirited' award, and low brass section leader.

I'm starting 2nd semester right now. 1st semester grades my gpa was 3.8 weighted. I'm planning to take SAT classes in march and take 2 SAT (my first real) test in May and June.

Also president of bowling club. and in Key club (no council position) and American cancer society (no council position)

+wouldn't mind getting into merced, riverside or davis. I don't think i'll be applying to any of the higher ones..

+chances of me going to the lower uc schools? ie. riverside, davis, merced?

You should be fine with Merced, Riverside and Irvine. I suggest you also apply to some "reach" schools; you never know.

To enhance your chance of admission to better UCs, try taking a few community college courses in the summer (courses in the a-g subject areas that are UC-transferable; the grades are weighted and you receive college credits without having to take AP exams) to boost your GPA and to show UCs you are motivated to achieve academically. I recommend you take the ACT plus Writing Assessment as well to optimize your chances (many students perform much better on the ACT than the SAT).

But off hand I would say you look fine.

Thanks

You have great EC's but your GPA and test scores are low. If you took all of the required courses for UC then I think you may have a chance at the lower UC's (i.e. Riverside, Santa Cruz, and Merced).

Considering that both Merced and Riverside have acceptance rates of around 75-80%, they are the two "easier" schools to get into.

Make sure that you have fulfilled (and hopefully exceeded) the A-G requirements. After that, aim for at least 1800 - 1900 on SATs just to be on the safe side.

Your extracurricular activities sound stellar but you need to show the UCs that you have challenged yourself in terms of coursework. You might want to take it up a notch by adding another Honors or AP class or a higher level math class or an extra year of foreign language--remember that many students who are accepted into the UC system show strengths in at least one subject area, so they have for example a strong focus in many musical classes; ie. Chorale, Jazz Choir, Band Ensemble.

Also become involved through clubs, student government, ASB, sports, etc.

Hope you get in to the college of your choice!

A couple of my friends got into Riverside and Merced with 1600s on their SATs and had basically no extracurriculars.

I am sure you can get in; their acceptance rates are extremely high.
