Office Depot $200 Rebate Trouble?

I sent in an office depot rebate from black friday that still has not come. It was marked as mailed 30 days ago, but I never received it. After 4 calls to the service center they finally cancelled the current check and put it through processing again for a new check. Of course processing last time took months.....This makes me angry. I'm considering three options but not sure of my chances for success. Any thoughts?

1. Go to the store and complain until the manager hopefully credits my account $200 or escalates the issue.

2. Call Chase because I paid with a chase credit card and dispute $200 of the charges for the laptop.

3. Just wait and keep calling and asking for a status and hope my rebate comes by the time the laptop is obsolete. Then I can use the $200 towards a new laptop!

Anyways at this point I'm not going to shop OD again, Office Max for me. They can thank the rebate company for this. Only way my opinion will change is if I contact OD and they make this better....

1. The store isn't going to do anything for you, so don't waste your time.

2. Chase isn't going to do anything for you, as the rebate isn't directly involved in your credit card transaction.

3. I would keep calling until you get resolution.

You're encountering the problem with rebates. You may get them quickly, you may not. I don't like buying stuff with such big rebates as it's a risk whether you ever see them.

I have good success with rebates, but I'd rather not deal with them.

never wait for rebates i recommend going in talking to a manager and raising hell "customers always right":D plus you'll get quiker results just keep on them !!!!! don't leave till your happy!

Call the corporate office. Tell them you want the $200 or you are prepared to report them to the Better Business Bureau.
