Returned items gone AWOL?

A couple of weeks ago I bought some items from an online clothing website. When they arrived, not all of them were suitable, so I sent the ones I didn't want back. The following week I checked the status of the items on the website but only 3 out of 5 of the items were showing as returned. I contacted customer services to query this and they said they had no record of the other 2 items. I have a cerificate of postage from the post office which shows I sent the parcel, but of course, this doesn't prove how many items were in it. Now they are refusing to refund me the money for the 2 items because I cannot prove I sent them back! What can I do next?

Just out of interest, can you let us know what website it was? I buy a lot of things online, and wouldn't want to get into that situation myself.

Actually I have just thought ... you should definitely write or phone the management. It could be that it's the whole company that's dodgy, but what's probably more likely is that there's some worker in the mail room opening parcels as they come in and nicking stuff, because as you've found, they can't prove what was in the parcel. But it could be that there are cameras which have caught him doing something dodgy, or it could be that a proper investigation will be launched if others complain of the same thing.

Probably nothing. I would look at this as a lesson learned and make certain you do not shop with this company again.
