Conservatives Want Lower Taxes, But.......?

Why do Conservatives want to live in a country with broken down highways, falling bridges, electricity that fails in every windstorm, and other major inconveniences? Since George Bush took office, we are paying lower taxes, even though the tax cuts were given to the wealthy. We are paying lower taxes because our salaries have been reduced. Right now, Chrysler Motor Co. is laying off thousands of employees and has admitted they want to hire cheaper labor. This saves them money, but also lowers the amount of taxes given to the government. As a result, the services Americans have always expected and demanded have been cast aside. Yesterday, half of Florida went dark. Not long ago, the Northeast and MidWest had a Great Blackout. Our infrastructure is falling apart. How do Conservatives think we can have a progressive, modern country if they do not want to pay for these basic necessities? Do they think that prayer will hold up that cracked bridge or repair that deep rut?

They think that cutting taxes increases revenue. If it is not affecting "themselves" they will do nothing. They might give a ton to their church but they are still selfish.

Conservatives Want Lower Taxes... for the wealthy.

why do Liberals believe that the government spends their money properly? Never anything to cut from from the budget? Like a softball league in upstate NY (last summer). Give us a break.

The Liberals in NY State load up the programs with patronage all for Union votes! They steal from us, and look at the answer above....a bunch of rhetoric from someone who has no idea what hard working people already pay in taxes! Clueless rhetoric.

Edit: are you equating taxes and lower salaries? The lower salaries are the labor markets that are competing directly with the rest of the world. Bush did not lower your salary. Free trade was Clinton and Bush Sr.'s policies. Clinton actually opened the floodgates on trade. It has nothing to do with taxes. Your taxes were cut significantly under Bush, and the idea behind Free trade is to seek out a better education and find one of the high paying/skill jobs that have resulted. You have a better opportunity now than ever before (unless you sit around waiting for the good old days).

If the taxes were only used to build this countries roads and what not, that would be one thing. They would be lower then. But the taxes are used to propagate the liberals philosophy/morality/religion in the infrastructure of this country, such as the public schools. This is what the department of education is for in this nation.

The government revenue has never been higher.

Lower taxes stimulate economic growth. More business at lower taxes = more money for the government.

Our salaries have not been reduced.

Any business wants cheaper labor.

You need to do some research.

No to mention those who want a huge military, endless war and bases all around the world

how about going Nuclear? libs have been fighting clean nuclear energy for decades and now we're way behind.

how about cracking down on border security? that would restrict the inflox of an entire workforce that doesnt mind taking American jobs for low wages and driving down what employers can pay people? not to mention the strain they place on healthcare and education?

and the fed doesnt need to be paying for local bridges - the state and municipal government does that. its called FEDERALISM. this is how it works. it does not mean the fed has absolute power over everything.

All they have to do is raise taxes on the richest in America by the smallest of margins. If the raised the taxes on the highest bracket back to about 40% (like before Reagonomics came about), there would be much more income for the nation. And it's not like billionaires can't afford to give a few extra thousand dollars. Also, I think there should by a national sales tax. It doesn't have to be big, only 1 or 2%. and if you want to exclude cars, houses and gas, that's still going to bring in a huge amount of extra tax money, without effecting people's everyday lives much.

Should they care when their houses are well kept and taken care of with OUR MONEY? And whats even worse, they will retire in a life style of their becoming with OUR MONEY. Taxes taxes.
So any basic necessities will be taken care for them first. They might want to convice us it is not so but see how fast something gets fixed where they live.
But just look at it this way, they put their pants on just like everyone else. One leg at a time and thats the only thing they can't get away from doing something that is a necessity

all of the examples that you mentioned are paid for by state and local tax. the bush tax cuts were done at a federal level, and if rich people have to pay less federal tax, they have to pay more local tax because of the increase in revenue.

basically, you want increased federal tax when that will actually cause a decrease in local tax collected which in turn causes less upkeep on roads and bridges.

the economy has been booming since the bush tax cuts went in to place. i dont even understand how you can argue that they are bad.

U.S. Taxpayers have to pay more taxes to have Universal Health Care. In 2005, health care spending reached $2 trillion, or $6700 per person. This total represents 16% of the gross domestic product of the United States. It was projected that in the next decade, that amount will double to $4 trillion in 2015 and represent 20% of the gross domestic product. The United States spends more money on health care than other nation in the world. If the 47 million Americans that are uninsured go to the doctor regularly, the cost of health care will further go up. It is likely that taxes will go up to pay for national debts incurred by the war.
