Can my family pay back Medicaid services?

While my husband was attending law school in Florida, we had two children born with Medicaid. Obviously, while in school we were not able to pay anything, but one day we would like to pay back the state. Does anyone know any information on how we can do this? We have tried contacting the actual Medicaid office, but to no avail. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Jennifer, You and your husband are to be commended. However, you qualified for Medicaid at the time, and you used it for what it was designed to do...to help people through a difficult time.

I would suggest that, instead of paying the money back to the state, you and your husband find a way to "pay it forward," and help someone whose family falls between the cracks in our healthcare system. Someone who needs a surgery they can't afford, or who is going to lose their home due to medical expenses.
