Can i travel outside the USA if i just took a receipt from the immigration service?

i just took a receipt from the USCIS office after i send a form in their office.the form is 1-539

Is that a Receipt Notice or Approval Notice?
If it is an approval notice, you can travel outside of US, but make sure that you apply visa and get visa stamped on your passport at US embassy or consulate to re-enter the US.
If it is Receipt Notice and your visa expired, then I won't travel outside if I were you.
