Natural disaster could strike in any community in a number of ways, including fire, flood, tornadoes, hurricanes, or earthquakes. A terrorist attack or hazardous spill could also cause the disaster preparedness plan of your community to be put into effect. There are many organizations at the federal level with disaster responsibilities including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Department of Transportation, the Army Corps of Engineers, and many others. States also have offices of emergency services. Local government agencies have police and fire departments that take care of disaster responsibilities. All communities plan for disasters. So, how prepared is your community?

My community does what it does. I have no clue what they would do in an emergency. All I know is after 9-11 they bought food to keep in the school. First off some of the students would have had allergies to it and it expired a year or two ago and got chucked. Good way to spend money. If people would take personal and social concern we wouldn't have a problem. If the food stores would ration in an emergency instead of just getting looted and people would just not panic and help each other instead of only thinking of them self. Will we ever be fully ready? No you can't. You take that risk by living. I think there should be more survival education for the masses instead of a couple places trying to help people who are freaking out.

Ask about the plans for food, including for people with allergies and such.

Ask about the ability they have to control the panic.

Ask how they would help people with medical contions and need medications.

Preplanned attempts for transport?

Ability to notify people of whats going on?
