In your update history should be error codes. You can type these into Google or Microsoft site and figure out what is causing the problem.

Where the heck is "Update History" Report It

For in such cases they could not be installed because 1)u either have reinstalled xp or 2)ur windows xp might not hve been legidt one(original).
if u are having them then better dl the updates packs available on microsoft website

Try restarting your computer and try updating again.
