I have a ?

I have been trying to get my foot in the door within the law field (in nyc)for the longest of time (as anything to eventualy end up working as a paralegal) but no one will hire me because I don't have experience working in a law office.but I have over 5 years expereince working as a customer service rep. and 2 years as a paralegal student (w/ a 3.0). Does anyone have advice on what do I have to do in order to get myself within the law field.

Several suggestions:

1. See if your school - the one you went to paralegal school for - has an alumni association. Perhaps you can meet some contact there;

2. See if your school has a career center. Maybe you can meet some contacts;

3. Ask your former professors. Were they practicing attorneys or paralegals? Those are good contacts. Many law firms hire based upon recommendations from current or former employees.

4. Ask your former classmates. Are they currently employed in the paralegal field? They are good contacts too. See #3.

5. Work for a temp agency that specializes in staffing legal jobs...there are lots out there.

6. If you don't have the clerical skills - not sure what you did as a customer service rep, but I assume it's telephone and typing skills - then you sign up with a general temp agency that can get you a clerical job to get those skills required.
