Why should I care about the next President starting another war if I'll be over 26 years old?

I looked up selective service informatin and found the following:
Any future draft will be done with a lottery, and the first selectees will be 20 year olds, followed by 21,22,23 etc.
Once you reach 26, you can never be drafted.
I will be 26 by the time John McCain will be sworn in to office! So, why should I care if he starts another war?

There is more to war then combat. Someone has to support the war machine financially as well as the production, and that person will probably be you unless you plan on not being a useful person to society by not working. That and the actions of the present reflect unto the future. So what happens now can affect the government and the country going bankrupt or weak in the future.....

Because your fellow Latinos are sent to the front line.

If he royally screws up a war, and a coalition of nations decide to remove America as a threat and invade, you'll probably be drafted anyway. If the fighting comes to American soil, I'll bet that 26 year old age limit will be tossed out the window.

I think anyone that HASNT served in the US armed forces should be required to, regardless of age, under 45. Period.

Noone should be able to have their peers make sacrifices but you sneak out of it. I ssay that ANYONE in the US, male or female, must serve in one of the following, no exceptions:

1) current form of CCC camps
2) the Peace corp
3) the US Military

a minimum of 4 yrs

I personally believe that if you dont, you are spineless, selfish and looking for a free ride. I say you dont deserve one...contribute to America, I did!

Because people will die... It may not effect you personally, but you should care.

There's more to lose beside your life. Living can be hard in times of war and our government has borrowed $30,000 per citizen over the last eight years to pay for the war etc.

You stil have to pay TAXES on war. War = huge spending = huge taxes in the nea future. A war at 26 = TAXES at 36

If you can't appreciate the moral aspects of war and are only worried about your own hide then think about how it would effect your wallet through increased taxes. What about your family or friends or does it not matter if they do have to serve and die?.

Because you should not be another selfish American! That is one of the biggest problems. Most Americans don't give a rat's *** about anyone but themselves. What if you were a brother or parent of someone eligible for the selective service? Have empathy for your fellow American and stop living in your own egotistical bubble!

There ya go! As long as it doesn't affect you, everything's right with the world. Heck, we can even have total "nucular" annihilation, just as long as you are safe in a cave somewhere when it happens. You have a charmed life ahead of you, I am sure. [/sarcasm]

You had better be scared! the wars have not yet started. The true fear will be what takes place here when the luxury items and then the basic essentials become scarce.

Because your a decent human being who does not want his younger friends or family to die!

Because your tired of spending Trilllllllllllions of dollars on a war that can't be won (and to think we can't even fix New Orleans) what a shame.

Oh, I forgot you only care about you!

Mr Selfish its all about you eh ? what a nice guy.. pity your partner in life...

Yep why should you care, I agree

BECAUSE A NUCLEAR WAR WILL RESULT IN ANOTHER ICE AGE WHICH WILL OBLITERATE THE PLANET'S POPULATION

COUNT ON IT

During WW II, men as old as 35 years old were being drafted. During the Gulf War, there were serious discussions about bringing Americans into the military with certain expertise, regardless of age.
