Laptop stopped using AC power, powered off instantly 1 minute later, and now wont power up? Fixable?

I have a Vaio laptop. I would love to know if its fixable?

I was installing a large program (MS Office). I got a warning that AC was not plugged in. Checked power cord, took it out and replaced. The computer didn't register I had put it back in. About 1 minute later it instantly powered down - no low battery warnings. Wouldn't power back up, no lights when I pressed power button. Pulled battery and air dusted inside battery compartment and battery itself. Put back in - the power on button flashes when I push power but thats it. Trading out the battery had no effect. Does this sound fixable?

uckily I was just in the process of reformatting the computer for me since my husband got a new laptop so no major data lost.

Suggestions on where to fix? Called around a little and most local people don't service laptops. Geeksquad??? LaptopRescue.com??

Any help would be greatly appreciated? So sad my "new" laptop quite on me the 2nd day.

based on your statements i assume the power plug on the laptop is lose. the laptop ran probably the full time on battery, so i explain the instantly power down.

you can try the following
remove the battery, attach the AC adapter and put some pressure on the power plug (the one on the laptop), then press the power on button. if the laptop doesn't power on, try to put the pressure on a different direction. if it power on under these circumstances you have to re-solder the plug on the mainboard.
