Which Job should I take?

I recently moved back to my hometown, where I had previously been employed by a grant-funded drug prevention program. The director found out I was back in town & offered me my job back, but I hesitated to take it, as I need to be home after school & evenings to provide transportation and supervision for my teenage daughter (who has another year before she can drive.) This job is also about 40 miles round trip commute, and involves quite a bit of innovative community activism and high energy--fundraising, recruiting volunteers, coordinating projects, planning & hosting meetings, etc.
They offered to let me work some from home, but so far this is seeming problematic.
Two weeks into this job, I was offered another job closer to home as an office manager for an insurance agent. I was recommended by my pastor, and the agent goes to church with me, and turns out knows some of my relatives. He wants someone he can trust to handle deposits, customer service, etc.

I am torn between these two very different opportunities and also the business ethics involved. (Burning bridges by taking a job & then quickly changing my mind---BUT remember I didn't apply for the job--they tracked me down. At this stage in my life (almost 50) the idea of a predictable desk job that is over when it's over (oh & this boss promised to allow me flexibility after school for my daughter as needed too.) is VERY appealing, BUT it would require a new skill set & training in a field that is pretty foreign to me. In the past I've gotten nervous about handling other people's $$ and accounting type tasks.

The salary is about the same.
Should I stay or should I go?

This is a no-brainer. Your family comes first .

go with the office manager job its not as exiting but you will be closer to home and not as rushed

Only you can answer the question.

I would go with your gut feeling about the decision.
The office manager position, while new to you, seems to offer more of what you need - closer to home, flexibility with your schedule, and pretty much set hours.
I'd personally take the other position and just explain to your current employer, that while you appreciate the opportunity and are flattered that they "head hunted" you for the position, with your current home situation, it would be better if you took employment elsewhere. Thank them for the opportunity and tell them that when your home situation changes, you will be available again if they need you (not that you will, but just leave it open for now).

You need to ask questions to yourself. What are you'r values? What do you see yourself doing in a mather of 10 years? What is more rewarding?... There are no easy solutions, yet if you choose don't look back.
