Accepting credit cards in a private therapy practice...?

I am the office manager for a single provider therapy practice. Over the past two years, we have had increasing issues with patients paying thier bills on time (or at all). We have instituted a pay at the time services rendered policy, but want to be able to give patients the option of paying by credit card. I have tried to find a company that is set up to work specificlly with either therapists or small businesses. Because of how the office works, we would not be swiping the card at the end of each session, but would be entering all the information in for all the patients at the end of each day. Any advice on how to research this or any suggestions of companies to work with is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sam's Club offers merchant processing services for its members. I have also used RBS Lynk previously. I switched to Sam's though cause the fees are lower than what I was paying Lynk. be aware that you will be paying higher fees anyway since you'll be doing manual transactions. always better to swipe the card (your clients may not want to just give you their card info anyway and then your efforts are moot)

We have used RBS Lynk for over 3 years. We are in a service business and also have to input the cc numbers manually.

You will be charged a higher discount rate if you choose not to swipe the cards. The processor believes you are a higher risk for fraud, etc.

I don't know about not swiping the cards, but there are services that can handle your account. Costco provides a credit card service. So does PayPal, but Pay Pal is strictly on line; they don't provide any equipment.

The least expensive in the long run is your bank, but they will charge an up front fee to set you up.

www.custompayments.com or it might not have the "s". Tell Nathan that Maria sent you.

You can also take debit cards in addition to credit cards.

And you can start charging a fee for clients who pay late (after telling all clients you have changed your policy)
