No. It's a scam.

For one thing, if people didn't buy tickets, where do they get the money you are supposed to have won? Do you think some nice person just DONATED 450,000 lbs sterling?

I can tell you where they get money, they will tell you that you have to send them a processing fee. If you do that, they have YOUR money and you will never hear from them again.

Your name was selected from 25,000 names? You don't think they could have found 25,000 people in IRELAND? They send these letters out of country because they are less likely to get caught. You aren't going to Ireland to lodge a complaint that you got ripped off.

All they have to do is change p. o. boxes after they have received your "processing fee", and you are screwed.

You are aware Internet scam es! Never leave personal information. Did you buy a ticket that's the only way to win Irish sweepstakes.

This is ALWAYS a scam. If you want to test it, respond. As soon as they ask for a credit card number, you'll know. Sometimes, they'll ask for a social security number, which is also an indicator. Oftentimes, they'll say they need an up-front payment to cover thier costs. I'll respond "send me my winnings, and I'll give you ten times that amount." They weren't going for it, so I hung up.
The first thing you should ask yourself when you receive a letter like this is "did I enter this contest?" If the answer is no, throw it away. DON'T GET SCAMMED!

nope its to get your info so they can steal your identity. I called the fbi about them and they told me thats what they are.

I received similar letters. When I wrote back asking for further details, the information given was rather suspicious. You must understand that nobody will give anything on a platter. There is no free lunch any where in the world.

Total scam. Why would the Irish lottery be held in the UK anyway? If you didn't enter, you can't win.
