Landlord wants to get internet service and use my wireless router will i and others be able to pick up singnal

he is going to put the internet service down in his office below our apartments so will we be able to pickup the signal and will all of us that has wireless be able too

lost of dependancies. depends how thick the walls are, floors, any obstructions such as furniture. at what db gain the router puts out etc.. alls you can do is try it and if the signal is weak you get a repeater or an antenna with gain

So, I have been told recently.

It depends on the distance from the Wireless router in his office to the individual PC's through out the building.

The range of WiFi is not that great, when you try to get the signal through walls and floors. At best 30 Feet.

your question is a bit abstruse to me.
Ok if your landlord wants to use your wireless,
1)If he has to many computers then the network is going to slow down and you will be frustrated using it.(depends on whats your internet speed)
2)Next thing is does he want to place the wireless in his office down , then depending on how far you are living the signal will varry, you can connect it once and check the signal.

I hope I have cleared your doubt. But still if you have any you can message me.

Most likely unless your landlord makes his connection secure, which would mean you would have to know the password.

No problem Find out where he is installing it and get a wireless booster. Locate it as close to directly above it as you can. you may have to run soft ware from the isp. Before you give it to him write down the wep key from the back of the modem ( ten digit code in brackets When you run the network wizard it will ask you for it Not a good idea to give that wep key to any one but the lanlord. People are friends today and enemies tomorrow The bad things they could do are endless Remember the further away and through any obstacles the signal deminishes Being directly above the modem you will get the best signal

Yes, all users in your building should be able to receive the signal from the Landlord.

Two things you should consider...

1. Make sure your computer is setup with a User name and A Password to log into Windows. You do not want other users or the Landlord getting into your system. And turn off Printer & File Sharing protocol under Control Panel / Network Connections . Right click on your HighSpeed/Lan Connection and chose Properties. Uncheckmark "Printer & File sharing". Click APPLY first then OK.

2. Think about Securing your Wireless Network. If your router came with a manual, read it from front to back and pay close attention to the Security features. You may also wish to read this page : http://www.practicallynetworked.com/supp...
