Insurance customer service rep.?

I am interviewing for a job at a Farmer's Insurance Office. Its for customer service. I have excellent experience in customer service, how much does this position normally pay? It would just be me and the insurance agent in the office.. home, auto, etc.

Two major factors will determine what you might get paid.

First. is your prior experience. You indicated that you have excellent experience in customer service was this experience in the insurance industry? Insurance is a very technical field as you need to be knowledgeable in rating home, auto, boat, and motorcycle insurance. If you have gained the technical experience at a previous agency you could be paid very well. On the other hand, if you are starting from scratch your pay will be considerably lower.

The second factor is your location. Different parts of the country will reflect what the going rate is for a customer service rep. Your salary in a rural area will be less than if you are in a big city.

In southeast Michigan we paid about $35,000 for a licensed and experienced customer service rep.

The job can be very rewarding and once you have the technical experience you will find that it is very easy to get a job anywhere in the country because there are literally thousands of insurance agents who are looking for competent employees. It is a very desirable skill.

they will prbably have to have you get licensed and give you some training in insurance, if they do, then I bet they will pay pretty decent.

I'm not a rep, I'm a Claims Service Assistant, and I don't work for that company, and I had no prior experience or degrees, and I started this past July at $22k/year.

If you are in CA you should get $12-$14 plus medical coverage.

I would have to guess mimimum wage. I would avoid Farmers Insurance all together anyway. Work for a reliable company.
