Why did the FBI and the Secret Service raid libertydollar.org???

Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters:
I sincerely regret to inform you that about 8:00 this morning a dozen FBI and Secret Service agents raided the Liberty Dollar office in Evansville.
For approximately six hours they took all the gold, all the silver, all the platinum and almost two tons of Ron Paul Dollars that where just delivered last Friday. They also took all the files, all the computers and froze our bank accounts. all the gold and silver that backs up the paper certificates and digital currency held in the vault at Sunshine Mint has also been confiscated. Even the dies for mint the Gold and Silver Libertys have been taken.
This in spite of the fact that Edmond C. Moy, the Director of the Mint, acknowledged in a letter to a US Senator that the paper certificates did not violate Section 486 and were not illegal. But the FBI and Services took all the paper currency too. ..

Because the government is super pissed off that Ron Paul is speaking to the people in plain English and explaining to us how the government has been, and continues to use and rip us off our hard earned money.

PCAN: - If laws are that simple, then why are we debating the pardoning of twenty million ILLEGALS that broke a law (perhaps as did libertydollar.org) - why does one get punished and the other not??? Why do we go to Iraq to "liberate" people that did not ask for our help and yet ignore the pleas for help from people in Burma, Pakistan and other parts of the world who truly need the protection of the supposedly "strong"? Why the double-standards?

Simple. It is illegal for ANYONE except the government to print currency in the United States.

Nobody besides the US Government is allowed to print and mint currency that could be used as legal tender.

It is also not up to Edmond C Moy to decide what legal tender is or is not. That would be up to the Federal Courts to decide. Moy is not in the business of interpreting Law, he just runs the operations of the Mint.

The specific crimes alleged are money laundering, counterfeiting, mail fraud, and conspiracy. While I consider some of the charges as tenuous and circumstantial, the counterfeiting charge is an almost sure conviction.

In Title 18 U.S.C. Title 25, Counterfeiting and forgery, 搂 486 states, "Whoever, except as authorized by law, makes or utters or passes, or attempts to utter or pass, any coins of gold or silver or other metal, or alloys of metals, intended for use as current money, whether in the resemblance of coins of the United States or of foreign countries, or of original design, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

According to that law, anyone who makes or passes coins or bills intended for use as a replacement nationwide for dollars breaks that law.

Private enterprises that make and issue tokens or bills for use on their property only or with their service only are not breaking the law because those tokens have a limited use.
