Yes. You think you need to see a specialist but instead of telling the doctor up front you are certain he will come to the same conclusion. Your visit concludes with him prescribing medication and sending you on your merry way. You feel like he's overlooking something but decide not to speak up about it. You end up coming back a few days later and you are twice as miserable. He finally refers you to a specialist.

The initial moments with your doctor are key. Be prepared with what you are going to say and verbalize some kind of expectation.

Belching your questions to the Dr. and flatulating you answers.

.Speak clearly, ask if the person understands. spell the info if necessary.
Then there shouldn't be any misunderstandings.
