What is Windows XP Service Pack 2? |
I notice that the MIcrosoft Office Home and Student 2007 package that I have bought requires Windows XP with Service Pack 2. What is Service Pack 2 and how can I check if it is installed on my PC? XP SP2 is a bundle of Microsoft Updates released. It includes OS updates, security updates, new features to the OS and etc. It is an upgrade patch that fixes all the bugs and problems of the SP1. Go to control panel, then system. It will tell you what you have on there, either SP1 or SP2. Go to the windows update page and type in service pack 2, or the automatically updates will update itself eventually. It's an additional add-on(software) to ur existing O.S. which will enhance the features and also increses the security of the o.s.You can get this from microsoft official website for download.Hope u've got the required info. When MS first releases a package, users who buy it are used to test it out. As faults are identified, MS then sells patches on CD to fix them (not all). You can supposedly download them, but they are a job to find and huge. They are called service packs to make them sound as if they are doing you a service. You pay twice for your software.
