Customer Service Jobs?

I have been in this industry for the last 7 years. I don't know how to get out.

I had an interview and the lady said well you were always back office, no front office experience. How do I gain if no one will give me a chance.

I have to leave customer service. It's too stressful! Suggestions

I know how frustrating CSR jobs can be, I was a CSR for over 7 years as well, however, my last CSR job was very rewarding both economically and mentally. I went with an insurance company, your necessary experience is CSR but you job is usually assistant to the underwriters, the pay is 24K - 36K a year and options to become an underwriter pay at 40k-80k a year. They start with call center experience and train in all aspects of writing policies and pay you for it. Your growth potential is unlimited. The reason they call it CSR is you provide a service for your internal and external customers. I would only receive about 11 - 20 calls a day.All positions require customer service skills, do you want to sell? Do you want to remain back room processing, do you want to increase your legal ease or just have promotional growth available. If so, I recommend commercial insursnce.

If you want hand on and not an office job, try being a customer service manager at Wal-Mart or something. It's hands on and no office!

Have you considered taking some classes at the local college to upgrade your education? Sometimes this is the only way. My sister had a degree in office management, but people here tell her she needs to upgrade her education to get a good job. Another thing you can try, go to the unemployment office and see if they can help you get a better office job. I know what your going through. I wish there were a simple solution. Good luck to you.

do you have a nice phone voice
do you dress nicely and wear nice clothes
To get out of the back, and off the phone you must look great, smile and representbthe company so improve your look
Customer Servie is not stressful, you are putting stress on yourself ot getting frustrated with the volume of calls or the fact that you cant solve the problems that the customners report
MOVE to qa different line of customer service; maybe just taking orders for example, help desk events will get you to computer field as you move along and out front

Customer service is actually a very flexible position to move out of, but not into something completely different. What you want to do, is look for jobs that are different, but still have an element of customer service. Sales is usually a pretty easy transition, bank teller. It depends on what kind of customer service you have, what other areas you worked in, is it CC customer service? Also...look for an entry level semi-customer service position, one that will allow you to move out of the customer service position into something better. That way you can use your existing skill, but have opportunity to do something better, and learn more skills. And again, depending on the company you work for, are there other positions within your company you can transfer into to learn new skills, or do they have any programs or anything? I have lots of ideas, but not enough info to go off of, feel free to email me with more info and i can give you a better idea.

well leave and go back to college and do what you want to do or persue a different career.

Let them know that yes, you have lots of back office experience, but you are interested in gaining front office experience to round out your skills. Be open to any tasks they need you to do -- front or back. Look for positions that seem flexible. I would think that having 7 years of customer service experience would be a great asset to someone wanting to work in a front desk. It should be apparent that you know how to deal with people by now.

I know, it can be frustrating, because people always want experienced employees, but nobody wants to GIVE you the experience.

You may try searching through a temp/placement agency. The last one I went to (Apple One) was great! I went to a preliminary interview just to meet with my agent. She asked me what I was interested in, even as hobbies, and ended up finding me a job doing HTML programming, which I had only mentioned as a hobby before.

Temp agencies can also be helpful because they can mediate with the people hiring. They can let them know what experience you have, and what you are interested in, and that you are a valuable employee -- before you even go in for the interview.

Hope this helps.

Sell the strengths you have got from customer service which you can apply to another role - communication, problem handling, organization and time keeping etc. Stay positive about your experience over the last 7 years at interviews. Can you squeeze in a few hours a week helping out in another job you fancy? It may lead to full time, be easyer to get a foot in the door and this will look good on your CV. A job agency may help, be clear what your after and if they are a good company the employer will be confident in who they put forward - hopefully you! Keep job hunting and going to interviews - you will get there.-)

what is wrong with your perception ?
