I am looking for a new but economical computer and Internet service that is good but cheap what should I get?

What is the best internet service with good kid safe guards, but cheap. I really feel we should not have to pay for the internet at all, but that is beside the point. Would I be better off getting a used computer or a new one? What type and where? Why the type you have given? Is Sam's Club competetive on prices? I want good 24 hour support. Should I get it through my TV (insight) or through my phone or what? I am not much of a computer wiz. What should I not get that I would not really need. It would be primarily used for family useage, kids, some office work and so forth. What accessaries should I get. I do have an old Xbox.. Should I get the new one as well for computer usage or is it worth it?

You should look into a Linspire. They're around $150 at places like Fry's or tigerdirect.com. They run on a flavor of Linux tho. That's why they're so cheap. You're not paying half the price of the computer to Bill Gates. It's a little different than Windows but it's easy to learn, has great customer support and can do everything Windows can do and more.

If Linux scares you then your best bet is to go to Best Buy and pick an e-machine. I had $1200 to spend on a new computer and e-machines had almost the best specs of any box there and cost me only $500 after everything was said and done.

I checked out Sam's Club for PC's and they really are a rip off. Best Buy will have a rebate on almost everything you can buy there and you get up to $300 back for any computer you buy.

As for X-box, you don't need it. It's for playing games and has very limited connectivity with a PC. There's probably nothing it can do that you would ever find useful. Unless you have hard-core gamers in the house, pass it up.

Bluelight.com.
Very inexpensive and I have been with them for years.
Check it out! Report It

verizon dsl 750speed 14.99 month 1st 3 months 19.99 there after

For your needs a mid size computer will be more than enough. I would point you to dell website, since they have cheapest computer around in all categories. They offer 24x7 hour support. SAMS club is ok, but you dont get chance to customize at their website. they offer package, take it or leave it.
Buying old computer is not a good idea, unless you are buying it from a friend. Buying old computer from a store is just like buying a used car from a dealership (eventually you end up paying lot more), so go for a new computer.
In today's world, all websites are geared towards high speed internet, so dialup might not be a good idea. However depending on where you live, DSL is available for same price as dialup. For example AT &T SBC is offering DSL for about 15 bucks.
Finally, how you should buy it. Buy it directly from a source. Buying from a tv shopping channel means u will end up paying more, and wont get latest technology for your buck.

Hope this helps.

With regard to Internet service... Much depends on where you live. Do you have access to cable/DSL? What is each selling its service for? Is the cable provider throttling bandwidth? If the DSL is cheaper, how much and for what speed? Typically cable tends to be the better buy. It TENDS to be faster, service is equally reliable and you can get a VoIP service to reduce your local/long distance phone bill (vonage)

Don't buy a used computer. It may work well and be reliable, but it is already obsolete. As computers and programs for the improve, older computers become so obsolete that you eventually wouldn't be able to run software that you may need.

Before you pick a name brand or go to a store like Sam's Club. Do some research. Go to http://www.shop.com see what they have look at the specs and make sure that the specs are the same. Go to the Dell, Sony, Gateway and HP sites and see what they are offering (again, look at the specs and make sure that you are comparing similar items).

As respects what you may or may not need.... Most of us don't need 90% of the capacity our computers offer. But, you may not think you need something, get it and then find you use and like it.

If you want an X-Box 360, get it because it is an AMAZING game system.
