How can we hold doctors responsible for bad service?

I am so sick of going to Doctor's offices and waiting for hours, and getting the run around for test results. when my son was 3 months he had surgery on his skull.we were referred to neurologist who is supposed to be the best in the state. He did a great job on my son's head, but the follow up visits are unbarable! he request more test and does not give me the results, after i have to fight to get his results i get the answer "he looks pretty good, but the doc wants to see him every 6 months rather than 1 a year." All you mothers out there... what is the first question you would ask? WHY? What do you see, is there something wrong. The nurse told me she did not know, so i said, can i talk to the doc? her answer was exactly this..." he does not usually talk to patients" WHAT!!!! it was like pulling teeth to get a real answer, i had to threaten to get mt son's chart and bring it somewhere else to finally get an acceptable explanation.shouldn't we be able to interview doctors before we

go to them. Should we be treated like customers rather than inferiors dependent upon them to accept their word as gospel? I should be able to send an invoice to the doc for making me wait 2 hours in the waiting room before i get called in the back to wait another hour back there. I am paying them to take care of my health, essentially, they work for me so why am a treated like dirt? I know they go to medical school and they are smarter than me, but that does not mean that their time is more valuable than mine and i need the three hours i took off from work more then they do for sure. Who is with me on this?

probably about 6 months ago a man billed his doctor for the time he stood waiting in the lobby at the rate he makes at work and the office paid him without even going legal.

This should cheer you up. A few years ago my husband and I had severe health problems and had so many medical bills we had to go bankrupt. I was sure to stiff the doctors who were like the ones you describe and I paid the doctors who were decent to us.

That is what a doctor understands, getting paid or not getting paid.

Nowadays doctors don't really care about you. All they want is your money. If you die they don't care. Many don't even take the time to research to see what your problem might be. I know many doctors think that they "KNOW EVERYTHING" and don't. I've been to doctors and I tell them what I need and what my disease or whatever is wrong with me is, I even tell many of them the prescription drugs I need. Only reason I go to the doctor is to get tested for anything and to get prescription drugs if needed. So really you have to take matters into your own hands.

If a doctor were to refuse to give me results for a test, I would talk to the supervisor over that department and get to the bottom of the situation, or file a complaint.

I truly sympathize with your situation and I agree with what you are saying.I didnt go to doctors for over 20 years because every one that I ever went to belittled and ridiculed me to the point that I quit going.I finally decided that surely somewhere on this earth there has to be decent doctors.I found an excellent physicians assistant that works in a clinic. She treated me with respect and I was actually shocked(I was bracing myself for the usual attitude that I got from doctors in the past).I think all doctors should have to take classes on how to treat people.
